We've had heavy dump of snowfall over the last couple of days (approx one metre of fresh snow) and yesterday the winds were around 50-70 km/h which is why there was only a limited amount of lifts and slopes open. In conditions like this, Grandvalira have to firstly and foremostly take into consideration the safety of visitors - it's dangerous to run lifts when the winds are so high, and after heavy snowfall there can be avalanche risks. In any case, the closure of some pistes and lifts was only a temporary measure.
Hope this helps to reassure you - let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for the reply Bob.
Enjoy your skiing
Cheers
