The Grandvalira sector of Grau Roig, often referred to just as Grau, is located between Pas de la Casa and Soldeu, and is the only sector which isn't a residential area as well, which means it is much more unspoilt. The views around Grau Roig are spectacular, with beautiful mountains as well as a run down to Lake Pessons, frozen in winter.
One of the best features of Grau Roig is that it is a very comfortable ski resort for families because all the services are very close to each other, for example the ski school, snow garden, creche, beginners' slopes and restaurants are all nearby. The progression of slopes for learning is very good for those who are starting to ski, plus there are some fantastic red and black runs for experienced skiers.
It is one of our favourite places to ski because of the range of slopes, including lots of off-piste areas as well as a childrens area running through a forest. Grau is also the main area for adventure activities within Grandvalira, including dogsled rides, snowmobiles and paintballing.
