Ability Levels

Choosing the right level.

Try to grade yourself before your first lesson — the instructors will move you to a suitable group if needed.

There are four ability levels used across the Grandvalira ski school. Don't worry if you're not 100% sure — at the start of the week the school splits learners into groups according to ability, so you'll end up where you should be. At the end of the week there's the chance to enter a timed race: adults get a certificate, children get a medal and a certificate.

Beginners

Never skied or snowboarded before

Level 1

(Green/Blue): Able to turn right & left and use a drag lift

Level 2

(Blue/Red): Confident on all blue runs

Level 3

(Red/Black): Able to ski or board red runs with confidence and control

Good to know

Getting the most from your lessons.

A few extra things worth knowing before you book lessons in Pas de la Casa.

Why take lessons in Pas de la Casa?

Ski and snowboard lessons help you enjoy your holiday all the more, and they're not just for beginners; even advanced skiers and riders keep taking them. Benefits include learning to use equipment safely, developing your skills, discovering more of the 210km area and having more fun. Pas de la Casa also offers a more in-depth "Top Class" course, made up of smaller groups with video analysis.

Group vs private lessons

Both options have their merits. Private lessons cost more per hour but give you the instructor's full attention; group lessons are cheaper but you share the instructor with others of similar ability. Travelling as a group? Book an instructor just for your party for a few hours or the whole week. Ski with your friends while getting dedicated tuition.
