Pas de la Casa Ski School & Snowboard School

Pas de la Casa ski and snowboard school is the official school run by Grandvalira.  Across the Grandvalira ski area there are seven ski and snowboard schools in total, with a school local to each sector, all of which are run by the official mountain company Grandvalira. The school in Pas de la Casa is a large and busy school with lots of English speaking instructors, offering ski and snowboard tuition at all levels.

The high standard of the ski & snowboard schools is one of the major benefits of skiing or snowboarding in Andorra. The quality tuition on offer attracts both complete beginners as well as more experienced skiers and boarders eager to perfect thier skills and technique. There is great benefit to be had from learning with a skilled instructor, whether it be in group lessons or a one to one private lesson. They are also extremely knowledgable about the local ski area, which is very useful when you have a vast 210km to explore!

The school office is located at the bottom of the slopes on Avinguda d'Encamp, close to the Rentaski rental shop.

Why Should You Take Lessons?

By going to ski school or snowboard school during your holiday to Pas de la Casa, or anywhere else for that matter, it should help you enjoy your ski or snowboard holiday even more! Just some of the numerous benefits include the following . . .

  • Meet other people on holiday
  • Learn to use your equipment safely
  • Qualified and informative instructors to help you
  • You will learn new skills
  • Develop your existing skills
  • Try out new techniques
  • Build up your confidence
  • Learn about the mountain
  • Discover other areas of the mountains
  • Have loads more fun!

Having lessons isn't just for beginner skiers and snowboarders! Even the most advanced skiers and riders still have lessons. Pas de la Casa has some excellent instructors, who are qualified to the highest international levels, with loads of experience to help you learn. There is also a more in depth course available, called "Top Class", which is made up of smaller groups and also benefits from video analysis.

Group Lessons v Private Lessons

Pas de la Casa offers two choices for lessons with positives and negatives to both. Although private lessons are more expensive hourly, you get the full attention of your instructor. Taking group lessons is cheaper, however you share your instructor with the rest of your group. With group lessons, at the start of the week you'll be split into groups according to your ability, and yes, snowboarders and skiers have separate lessons!

If you're travelling as a group you could combine the two - book an instructor to just look after your party for a few hours or perhaps the whole week meaning you get to snowboard or ski with your friends, plus the instructor is dedicated to the needs of your group!

So when you come to Pas de la Casa, deciding whether you want to take group ski school or private lessons is up to you and your personal circumstances, either way you will be sure to benefit greatly from the expert tuition and guidance.

Ski school and snowboard school groups in Pas de la Casa are decided by ability. If you are a beginner, the instructors will take you right from the basics of how to put your skis or snowboard on, and if you have been before you will be asked to come down a gentle slope so that you can be graded and put in to an appropriate group. The different categories can be seen below.

  • Beginners: First time skier

  • Class 2: Can use a drag lift and can turn left & right

  • Class 3: Is confident on all blue runs

  • Class 4: Is able to ski red runs with control and confidence

There are different categories used for snowboarders, which are as follows ...

  • Beginners: First time snowboarding

  • Level 2: Can stand on a board although not mastered turning yet

  • Level 3: Can turn in both directions

The school say the minimum age for group snowboarding lessons is 12 years, because it is very important to be big enough to control a snowboard on the slopes.
